Bethany Murray: ‘White Shirt of an art dealer’, 2007

Untitled 4: (White shirts of an art dealer) is part of the photographic series Avoided Spaces taken throughout different locations in London. The work is developed from a performative process, which involves both written texts and the artist as performer re-staging specific stories. The black and white polaroids form part of the series and refer to throwaway tests of film, which stage an idea of the distillation of memory. The photographs imply through their re-enactment that memory is a fluid concept, and above all is open to change and transformation.
